« RIGHT NOW: Activists from all over Europe, volunteering with @GreenpeaceNL, have blocked a mega-ship arriving in the Netherlands with 60 million kilos of soy from Brazil, to demand a strong new EU “anti-deforestation” law.

Two more neutral claims for my wall of shame! Now Innocent orange juice (a brand from The Coca Cola Company) is “100% CO2 neutral” 😏.. And Danone’s Actimel dairy drink “takes care from [us] and the 🌍” as it’s allegedly carbon neutral …
If you spot some, please share!

According to a U.N. agency, the odds of at least one of the next 5 years temporarily reaching the threshold of 1.5°C have increased to 50:50 (in 2015 the chance was zero). Worrying ….

The Spanish Minister of Consumer Affairs, Alberto Garzón, calls for #degrowth and eco-socialism in this fantastic, well-researched post.

It's so inspiring to see these ideas starting to break through also at the political level!

New published today by the World Health Organisation European Régional Office found 60% of adults live with overweight or obesity, and 1 in 3 children. Not one single country is on track to stop the rise in obesity (although they committed to do so by 2025). The report says it’s time to stop blaming individuals and instead focus on tackling the determinants of poor diets (incl. commercial determinants).

And now CO2 neutral blueberries in my local supermarket this morning! How comes we still live in a with all these products that are (allegedly) neutral 🤔😒

neutral bananas and milk, -controlled meat ... Have you ever come across this type of claims when shopping?
If so, I'd be super grateful for any example(s) you might share/direct me to!
These claims are just bogus coz:
➡️ climate neutrality only makes sense at 🌍 scale
➡️ they rely on carbon "compensation" schemes (i.e. instead of focusing on reducing emissions, companies buy carbon 'credits' to offset them)

Thx for taking the time to reply to this poll!
Turns out many of you don’t find it *that* easy to eat sustainability. Affordability is an issue, as well as lack of information on what food is/isn’t sustainable (to a lesser extent). For the 1 in 3 who replied “not really”, I’d be curious to know if it has to do with lack of availability of greener choices in your local shops, lack of time (for cooking), or anything else! 🌎🍅🥬

Many folks here are climate activists, thus probably very much aware of the impacts of their food choices on 🌎. But still, do you generally find it easy to eat sustainably? If not, feel free to share why by replying to this post!

(The reason why I’m asking is that most policymakers typically blame consumers for doing the *wrong* food choices, as if they were the only ones responsible for our current unsustainable - and it’s highly unfair)
